Trekking – Central Massif – Ring of Peaks
LEVEL:
ADVANCED
A spectacular trek that runs through the heart of the central massif of Picos de Europa. Our adventure will take us to know the 4 shelters of this impressive massif, Collado Jermoso, Cabaña Verónica, Refugio de Urriellu and Refugio de Cabrones that will undoubtedly leave no one indifferent.
Date: July 29, 30 and 31
Date: September 9, 10 and 11
Meeting point: Fuente Dé parking lot at 9:00 a.m.
PROGRAM
We will leave Fuente Dé ascending one of the most spectacular trails created in mining times, the Liordes lathes, after ascending a peak in the area we will continue the march through the Vega de Liordes and after overcoming The Colladinas arrive at the Collado Jermoso refuge located in a spectacular enclave. Located on the Leonese slope, it has spectacular views of the western massif of Picos, whose peaks include Peña Santa de Castilla.
We will leave Collado Jermoso to go towards Cabaña Verónica through the Horcada Casares. Once there we will continue towards the Boches descent, a technical descent equipped with cable. After overcoming this section we will pass through the landless Hou to reach the Urriellu Refuge at the very base of Pico Urriellu, the most emblematic summit of the Picos de Europa.
We will leave Urriellu, to steadily ascend to the Horcada Arenera. Once we arrive at Cabrones we will find a completely different environment than Urriellu, with much less public due to the distance from the population centers. From here we will only have to descend towards civilization through Canal de Amuesa to the town of Bulnes. From this charismatic town we will descend along the Canal del Tejo, the former only means of communication between Poncebos and Bulnes until the construction of the funicular in 2000. After crossing the Cares River through the La Jaya bridge, we will arrive at Poncebos where we will finish the trekking.

Marabout of Sidi Chamarouch
It is a steep climb, always on a path and without major slopes. Of course, you have to keep an eye on the mules that carry the luggage of all the members of the different treks, both those going up and those going down, since some of them go quite fast.
Neltner Refuge – Toubkal Summit
Elevation difference: +1.000 m – 2.400 m
Distance: 23 km
Duration of the march: approximately 12 hours
Today is the day we will crown the roof of the Atlas Mountains. To do this we will leave at dawn from the refuge to be able to reach the summit just in time to see the sunrise.
In less than 4km we will ascend the 1,000m difference in altitude that separates us from the summit.
Reaching the top with the first light of day and that spectacular mix of colors is certainly worth it. Furthermore, going up at this time practically ensures that we will be alone at the summit.
